Post Designer. What types of design are there, who are they suita Odpowiedz z cytatem
Five seconds to impress, hook or simply not make you want to close the site/app. This is the time a person needs to evaluate the design and form a first impression of the company. Priceless time for any business. That is why the profession of a designer is so in demand these days.

And if you want to try yourself in design, you pay attention to the world around you, you want to create beautiful and interesting visuals, then go for it!

And in this article, we will help you understand the directions of the profession a little better, so that it will be easier for you to make the right choice.

The most popular types of design in the IT sphere (and not only):
A unique specialist for business, as it visualizes a wide variety of information so that it reaches customers.

This can be work with printing, and the surrounding space, and product packaging, and creating a logo, advertising banners. In general, the work is quite creative and diverse, so you will not be bored.

What skills are needed to become a junior specialist in the market:

knowledge of the ADOBE package and interaction of programs,
design thinking,
working with composition, color, typography,
understanding of branding (identity, logo, brand book),
knowledge of Figma (understanding of layout principles - HTML/CSS will be a plus).

You can master all this knowledge and make your first project within 5 months on the Graphic Designer course.

As for soft skills, Roman Berg, a mentor of the course at TeachMeSkills, spoke about them:

- Patience, curiosity and healthy optimism. I would also say about responsibility, but this sounds very serious, and I think it goes without saying Smile

I always say that for a designer, soft skills are in first place, because the profession is tied to competent communication with the client. A designer needs to be able to listen attentively at the very beginning, communicate productively during the project and tell an interesting story at the end. Hard skills are in deserved second place. If you have a good, albeit simple, skill base, this will be enough. Everything else can be learned during any project.

There are no special initial requirements for the profession, you need to understand this and not be shy. If you have a good imagination - great. If you prefer to work according to a clear technical specification, rather than inventing - that's also very good!

Design is a great profession, in which any character trait can turn into an interesting feature, so do not set limits for yourself and act boldly!

Job search tips from the course mentor:

Let's figure it out right away, experience and good eyes are the most important parallel points in a good designer. And the fastest way to get this is by developing projects. And it does not matter what and for whom, it is important to just do and live through all the stages that accompany any project.

At first, try to work as widely as possible and in any design category - from icons to packaging. Get involved in everything you can be called, and do not think about the price and time, all this will pay off threefold later!

Along with experience, you will understand what you do best and where to go next - and this will already accurately determine whether to go freelance or social media marketing service hired. I will not say that of the two forms of work, there is one specifically good thing, everything has pros and cons, it is up to you to choose. This does not affect your career growth in any way if you are a cool designer who loves what you do.

Game design

What it does:

Designs and creates games. This is an ideal job if you love to play or even just have a great interest in developing some scenarios. The task of a game designer is to make an exciting and balanced game due to well-developed levels and characters, a clear and attractive interface, interesting tasks when passing the game.

What skills are needed to become a junior specialist in the market:

understanding of game mechanics, player psychology, level design and environments,
experience with game design tools (e.g. Unity or Unreal Engine),
development of narrative, visual and audio design,
game testing.

Of course, soft skills will play a significant role here. A creative approach and developed imagination are especially important, which we asked Nikolay Evtikhiev, a mentor on the course, to tell us more about:

- Imagination is quite important. I would even say that it shares first place with other necessary things. A game designer must be able to fantasize in order to combine mechanics in an interesting and unusual way, combine the atmosphere of the game, the setting, the genre - and turn everything together into something unique. When repeating, it is important to understand what kind of repetition we are talking about. You can repeat game mechanics, but be careful.

You need to try to bring something of your own, something unique. Usually, some kind of non-standard mixture is made, because there can be a great many combinations. Nowadays, games are released in dozens per day (if we take Steam, then on average 30 per day), but we don’t see repetitions that often, the authors try to come up with something unique in terms of the mechanics of combining the plot, atmosphere, genre, etc. People are used to similar patterns as a “genre”, but within a genre, many things can be different. And yet, not many people play the same games.

You can watch an interview with Kolya on our YouTube channel about who a game designer is.

Job search tips from the course mentor:

- You can participate in hackathons. They are held all over the Internet and quite often, this is a cool experience. You can join some team on a voluntary basis as your first experience. Then you should look for vacancies specifically in some studios. Freelancing for game design has almost zero application - this is a rare case. It is best to immediately look for a full-time job.
